In both life and leadership, the picture or dream we have for our lives and enterprise is grand. I’m yet to meet an honest person who says they want little or nothing out of life. If we all dreamt untethered by disillusionment, failure, and life’s other realities, something grand would emerge. In their purest, our dreams are big. The haunting, perhaps even taunting question, is “how to live your big dreams everyday?”

Something To Remember

I’m always on the lookout for cool stuff. There’s a quirky coffee shop I visit from time to time. They understand coffee and probably make the best coffee compared to a lot of other coffee spots in the area. Their decor and vaab (Cape Town for ‘vibe’) are unusual. Well, I suppose, just about everything about them is ‘unusual’. Anyways, they’ve painted part of their coffee shop with chalkboard paint. And, they allow people to write. Today one of their doors had something to remember, always.

No Such Thing As Wasted Effort

When I apply myself I expect to see a return for my effort. None of us want to do something for nothing. We want some sort of return. A reward of sort for energy used. Some gain for all the pain we might have gone through.

At different times, for different reasons the results will vary. Sometimes we will see a great return. Perhaps an exponential one. At other times we get what we expected. Then there are those times we seem to get less than what we hoped for. Even worse, we get nothing.
